4½ oz (130 g) boneless, skinless chicken breast
½ tsp cumin seeds
½ onion, chopped
1 (1-in | 2.5 cm) piece fresh ginger, grated
1 small garlic clove, minced
1 green chile pepper, finely chopped
1 Roma tomato, diced
1 green onion, sliced
¼ tsp chili powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
½ cup (120 mL) water
.
Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
Heat a medium skillet over low heat. Toast the cumin seeds for about 2 minutes until golden and fragrant.
Add chopped onion and stir-fry until translucent (about 2 minutes).
Add ginger, garlic, and chile. Stir-fry for another 30 seconds.
Increase heat to medium. Add the chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes until lightly browned.
Add the diced tomato, green onion, and chili powder. Season with salt and black pepper.
Pour in the water, reduce heat to low, and let simmer for 15 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
Cumin is more than just a flavorful spice—it’s a digestive aid and metabolism booster. It contains powerful antioxidants and compounds that may help regulate blood sugar and improve digestion. When paired with lean protein and vegetables, it elevates a simple meal into a nourishing, functional dish.
